Impaired Driving

 

The KDOT Bureau of Transportation Safety and Technology, Traffic Safety Section, works on a statewide basis to decrease fatalities, injuries and crashes caused by impaired driving.  Activities are implemented in support of national highway safety goals to reduce motor vehicle related fatalities that also reflect the primary data-related crash factors within the State as identified by the State highway safety planning process.

Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest. is a national campaign organized by NHTSA, which focuses on combining high-visibility enforcement with heightened public awareness efforts. The campaign is designed to remind motorists that impaired driving is no accident, and will not be dealt with lightly.

Traffic Safety influences human behavior by identifying problems and implementing effective education and enforcement programs focusing on prevention. To accomplish these goals, Traffic Safety partners with various outside sources.  Activities and projects coordinated to implement this effort include:
