K-10 & I-435 Interchange Bridge Project

EXPECT DELAYS! UPCOMING WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURE:  Southbound Renner Boulevard left lane at K-10 will be CLOSED for median sawcut work on Tuesday, December 2 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Tuesday, December 2. (NEW 11-26-14) 

K-10 & Ridgeview Road Interchange Bridge Project

EXPECT DELAYS! UPCOMING WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURE: Westbound K-10 left lane at Ridgeview Road will be CLOSED for bridge work on Tuesday, December 2 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Tuesday, December 2. (NEW 11-26-14) 

EXPECT DELAYS! UPCOMING WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURE: Northbound Ridgeview Road right lane from 105th Street to K-10 will be CLOSED for paving work on Tuesday, December 2 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Tuesday, December 2. (NEW 11-26-14) 

College Boulevard

TRAFFIC SHIFT: Eastbound and westbound College Boulevard traffic from Ridgeview Road to Renner Boulevard will experience a traffic shift during the afternoon on Friday, October 31. Construction crews will shift traffic to the south side of College Boulevard in order to continue to work on the north side of College Boulevard.  The westbound lanes will move south. The eastbound lane will remain in the current location  and traffic will be ‘head to head’ (side by side) one lane each direction for this temporary traffic pattern.  Traffic entering College Boulevard from Ambassador and Penrose will be able to make both left and right hand turns at this time. Project work is scheduled to be completed in early January 2015. (REV. 11-21-14)


I-35 Spoon Creek & Bull Creek Bridge Repair Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in early December 2014

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound I-35 over Spoon Creek and Bull Creek between Sunflower Road and Homestead Lane exits will be reduced to one lane each direction, 24/7 round the clock, for bridge repair work beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, June 2, through early September 2014. Project work is scheduled to be completed in early December 2014. (REV. 11-25-14) 

K-7 & K-10 Interchange

EXPECT DELAYS! UPCOMING WEEKDAY RAMP CLOSURE: Southbound K-7 to eastbound K-10 loop ramp will be CLOSED for guardrail repair work on Wednesday, December 3 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. No marked detour provided. Suggested detour route: southbound K-7 traffic will travel to the next exit turn around and head back on northbound K-7 to the eastbound K-10 entrance ramp. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Wednesday, December 3. (NEW 11-26-14) 

U.S. 69 Bridge Over I-435 Repair Project

PROJECT TRAFFIC UPDATE! Due to equipment failure delays, all repair work on the northbound U.S. 69 over I-435 bridge has not been completed as of today, Tuesday, November 25.  

Here’s what this delay means for drivers this week, November 25-30: 

Northbound U.S. 69 to westbound I-435 ramp has been REOPENED to all traffic as of 3:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, November 25, and northbound U.S. 69 three lanes over the I-435 bridge will be FULLY OPENED to all traffic by 4:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, November 25.  

>>>> Eastbound I-435 to northbound U.S. 69 ramp will REMAIN CLOSED until all work is completed on Friday, December 5, weather permitting. <<<<

Here’s what this delay means for drivers next week, December 1-5:

On Tuesday, December 2, the northbound U.S. 69 to westbound I-435 ramp will be CLOSED and northbound U.S. 69 over the I-435 bridge will be reduced to ONE OPEN LANE during non-peak commute times between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to finish pavement work on the project that day.

On Wednesday-Friday, December 3-5, northbound U.S. 69 over the I-435 bridge will be reduced to ONE OPEN LANE during non-peak commute times daily between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to finish pavement marking and traffic control removal work on the project.  Overall project work is scheduled to be completed and all lanes and ramps reopened to unrestricted traffic by Friday, December 5. LEAVENWORTH COUNTY

WYANDOTTE COUNTY

 

I-35 & 18th Street/U.S. 69 Interchange Ramp Overhead Sign Mast Replacement Project
Overall project work scheduled to be completed in mid-December 2014

No project closures scheduled for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend! Northbound and southbound I-35 to 18th Street/U.S. 69 exit ramps will be CLOSED to all traffic overnight each day beginning on Monday, October 27 through late November 2014, weather permitting. The ramps will be closed daily beginning at 7:00 p.m. and reopening to all traffic at 5:00 a.m. the following morning, seven days a week. The ramp closures are needed so crews can remove the existing overhead mast signs (located on the ramps themselves) and replace with new structures. Advance message boards will alert traffic to the ramp closures. A marked detour provided. Northbound and southbound I-35 traffic will detour via northbound I-635 to eastbound I-70 back to southbound 18th Street/U.S. 69. Project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-December 2014. (REV. 11-26-14) 

I-70 & K-7 Interchange Project
Overall project work scheduled to be completed in late Fall 2014

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 LANE CLOSURE: Eastbound I-70 right lane from 134th Street to K-7 will be CLOSED for ramp construction work, 24/7 round the clock. beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, December 1 and reopening to all traffic at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Saturday, December 6. (NEW 11-26-14)

U.S. 69 over Missouri River Bridge Replacement Project (MoDOT/KDOT Project)  > > #us69moriverbridge
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in December 2016

24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound U.S. 69 from I-635 (in Missouri) to Kindleberger Road in Kansas will be reduced to one lane in each direction, 24/7, beginning on Friday, October 24 for bridge replacement work. Both northbound and southbound U.S. 69 traffic will travel on the existing northbound U.S. 69 bridge (Platte Purchase Bridge). A crossover will be used to shift southbound U.S. 69 traffic to the existing Platte Purchase Bridge. The traffic switch is scheduled for Friday, October 31, 2014 and traffic will remain in this configuration until Thursday, December 1, 2016. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Thursday, December 1. (NEW 10-27-14)

Long term project closures listed below typically take place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Project completion dates typically range from 31 days up to a year. All closures and scheduled work are weather permitting and subject to change.

 

JOHNSON COUNTY

Westbound I-435 from U.S. 69 to I-35

TRAFFIC SHIFT: Westbound I-435 traffic from U.S. 69 to just west of I-35 will be shifted to the south with three through and one auxiliary lane for reconstruction work on the westbound I-435 lanes, 24/7 round the clock, beginning on Thursday, September 4 through late 2014, weather permitting. Crews will begin setting traffic control at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3 and the traffic shift will be in place before morning rush hour on Thursday, September 4, weather permitting. 

Westbound I-435 traffic (from U.S. 69 to just west of I-35) will travel through the work zone via three through lanes and one auxiliary lane as follows: 

1) Far left lane traffic will travel through the work zone only directed via concrete barrier on either side of the driving lane. Traffic will travel on an 11-foot wide driving lane with an approximate 2-foot left shoulder and 8-foot right shoulder (lane is located in former eastbound I-435 lane/median area).
2) Center lane traffic will travel through the work zone as normal
3) Right lane traffic will travel through the work zone as normal
4) Far right auxiliary lane will be used for traffic wishing to access the U.S. 69, Quivira Road and I-35 interchanges  

Advance message boards will alert drivers to the traffic shift. There will be an 11-foot lane width restriction and a 55 mph posted speed limit through the project work zone throughout the project duration. Note: Eastbound I-435 traffic through this area has already been shifted to the south slightly to accommodate the westbound I-435 traffic shift. All ramp access will remain open at the U.S. 69, Quivira Road and I-35 interchanges. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late 2014. (NEW 8-25-14)

College Boulevard

U.S. 73 / K-7 Pavement Replacement Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late December 2014

24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound U.S. 73/K-7 from 20th Street to the north junction of Leavenworth County Road 14/Santa Fe Trail will be CLOSED to all traffic beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7 for pavement replacement work. A marked detour will be provided via Leavenworth County Road 14. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late December 2014. (NEW 7-3-14)
