PROJECT DETAILS Project Web Site City of Olathe Projects Website Programmed for Fiscal Year 2008 Location K-7, Johnson County, Northeast KS K-7 in Olathe from 183rd to 119th Street. Work Type Location Study Scope of Work Preliminary freeway design study to be followed by a Location and Environmental Study (NEPA process) when funding is identified. Project Length 10.6 Miles Associated Projects Project Description This is a combination of two studies (a Preliminary K-7 Freeway Design Study and a Location and Environmental Study - NEPA process study) that are outgrowths of the K-7 Corridor Management Study completed in 2006 (see K-7 Corridor Management Study). In collaboration with the City of Olathe, the K-7 Corridor Management study recommended that K-7 should be a freeway through Olathe and be realigned along Lone Elm Road from near 183rd Street to Old Highway 56. The study also recommended overpasses at 167th Street and 151st Street and an interchange at 159th Street. The Preliminary K-7 Freeway Design Study from 183rd Street to Old Highway 56 is looking at adding interchanges at 167th Street and 151st Street and an overpass at 159th Street. It will be completed in Spring 2008, at which point preliminary right-of-way limits for the study area will have been defined. When it is finished and additional funding is identified, the City of Olathe and KDOT plan to complete a Location and Environmental Study using the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process for the entire K-7 corridor through Olathe (183rd Street to 119th Street).
