Project Description
Most of the town of Greensburg, Kansas was destroyed by an EF-5 tornado on May 4, 2007. After the tornado, community planners asked KDOT to reconsider the US-54 south bypass recommended in the 2002 US-54/US-400 Location Design Concept Study. They wanted KDOT to consider a new route about midway between the current highway and railroad tracks three blocks to the north. In collaboration with community leaders and residents, KDOT developed a location and design concept for the future highway. There are no funds identified to build the highway and there is no schedule for construction. Click the link above to visit the project website and see complete information.
